Earlier this year at our January event, From Small Beginnings Come Great Things, CZW Owner DJ HYDE
made an announcement that shook the Combat Zone to its core. Making
his return to the United States for CZW after a decade long absence is a
man who is a personification of ultraviolence; "THE CRAZY MONKEY" JUN KASAI.
Long time fans know of the swathe of destruction Kasai carved in the
Combat Zone, but for you newer fans, here's what you can expect from one
of Japan's fiercest competitors.
CZW & our international partner BJW
feuded with each other in the early years of the Combat Zone. Kasai
was a Big Japan star who aligned himself with CZW and fought against his
home promotion. When he relocated to the USA, Kasai helped form THE BIG DEALZ, consisting of CZW Founder John Zandig, "Sick" Nick Mondo, Wifebeater, Z-Barr, & the late Trent Acid. Together, they asserted their dominance over the Combat Zone before ultimately dissolving.
Kasai gained notoriety in CZW at "Un F'n Believable"
in April 2001 where he competed in a fans bring the weapons match with
Mondo against the team of Justice Pain & Johnny Kashmere. During
the match, Kasai was crucifix bombed over the top rope onto lighttubes,
barbed wire, & glass. The result was Kasai's ELBOW BONE protruding from his skin. Not one to let this stop him, Kasai had his elbow taped up & finished the match.
The
greatest success for Kasai came in 2001, when he won two of CZW's
championships. On May 4th in Sappora, Japan, Kasai defeated MEN'S TEIOH
for the World Junior Heavyweight Championship. Seeking to add another
title to his resume, Kasai teamed with Teioh & the duo defeated THE BACKSEAT BOYS
on August 17, 2001 in Nagoya, Japan for the World Tag Team
Championship. The reigns would be short lived. Kasai lost both titles
two days later in Yokohama; the Tag Team Championship went back to the
Backseats & the Junior Heavyweight Title went to Trent Acid.
Upon
finishing his tour of duty in the Combat Zone, Kasai returned to Japan
and has competed mainly for BJW. He has become infamous for competing
in the RAZOR DEATHMATCH, where boards are fitted with razor
blades. Having competed in 5 of these matches, Kasai's body is covered
in scars. Where he sees them as badges of honor, many see only a road
map of pain. One of these matches pitted Team CZW (Kasai, DJ Hyde,
& Nick Gage) against Team BJW on April 5th, 2010. A pool of carnage
was left in the ring in the aftermath.
Jun Kasai makes his long awaited return to the United States during "BEST OF THE BEST X" Weekend. You will have a chance to meet Kasai at the K&S WrestleFest Convention
the morning of Saturday, April 9th at the Ramada Inn in Essington, PA.
Kasai will be appearing with fellow BJW star & Best of the Best
participant DAISUKE SEKIMOTO. We encourage all CZW fans to go
check out this great event; information can be found at KandSWrestlefest.com. That afternoon at the Asylum
Arena in Philadelphia, Kasai will square off with "THE GOLDEN BOY" DRAKE YOUNGER at wXw's Kreuzzug Zki Part 1 in a NO ROPE BARBED WIRE MATCH. Later that evening at CZW's Best of the Best, Kasai will defend the CZW Ultraviolent Underground Championship against DANNY HAVOC.
The very next day, CZW makes its return to New Jersey at the ACE Arena
in Union City as part of another loaded double header with wXw where we
will present "INTERNATIONAL INCIDENT". Kasai is no stranger to
his opponent that afternoon. Returning to the Combat Zone is a man Kasai
has competed against in one of the razor deathmatches. In New Jersey,
Jun Kasai will face THE NECRO BUTCHER in an ULTRAVIOLENT RULES MATCH!!!
And as if those 3 matches weren't enough, you will have one more chance
to catch Kasai that weekend. Later that evening at the ACE Arena, wXw
presents Kreuzzug Zki Part 2. Kasai's final match for this loaded
weekend will pit him against the winner of this year's wXw 16 Carat Gold
Tournament in a hardcore match..."THE NEW HORROR" SAMI CALLIHAN!!!
