The Top 10 of CZW - May, 2012
Wednesday, May 16, 2012 @ 07:34pm EDT

Each month, the staff at has been ranking the wrestlers of CZW based on their win-loss record, their place on the card, the crowd reaction they receive, any titles won or lost, and other intangible qualities that made that wrestler stick out from the pack.  Since its inception, this list has proved to be controversial; surely it will be very much the same this month.  Please remember, this list is not the official standings controlled by CZW Management.  Without further a due, this is the Top 10 of CZW for May, 2012.

CHAMPION – MASADA – He just can’t be stopped!  MASADA defeated two men within a seven day period to remain atop the Combat Zone.  First he defeated the heavy hitter Michael Elgin at Cinco De Mayo in Indiana.  He then came back to Philadelphia to find out that the one man who left him defeated in the last two Cage of Death matches, Devon Moore, was the man to accept the challenge at Proving Grounds.  But yet again, MASADA’s shoulders go unpinned for eleven months!

#1 – (2) – Drake Younger – Younger finally can call himself “The Golden Boy” again as he finally defeated Sami Callihan in a dramatic Two-Out-Of-Three Falls Match at Cinco De Mayo.  Younger called it the proudest moment in his career.  He then went on to defeat BLK Jeez seven days later at Proving Grounds to successfully defend the championship.  Next up…  Drew Gulak!

#2 – (1) – Sami Callihan – The Combat Zone hasn’t really seen or heard from the Death Machine since his loss at Cinco De Mayo.  Did Younger bring Callihan back down to Earth?  We will have to wait and see what happens when Callihan represents CZW at this weekend’s Fight Club: Pro and wXw events.

#3 – (6) – Danny Havoc – Havoc finally breaks into the top three following his victory against Drew Gulak.  For the better part of the last year, Havoc has defended the honor of Nick Gage and the Ultraviolent style of wrestling.  It all paid off when he made Gulak bleed at Proving Grounds.  Havoc now sets his sights on Tournament of Death XI!

#4 – (7) – Dave Crist – Like him or not…  Agree with his strategies or not…  Dave Crist is still a champion in the Combat Zone.  Whether its using what he calls the “C*nt Punt” or by flat out getting himself disqualified, he will do anything to make sure his brother or anyone else for that matter NEVER becomes the CZW Wired TV Champion.

#5 – (4) – AR Fox – AR Fox took a much needed night off at Proving Grounds.  But what is in store for the “People’s Choice?”  Will he challenge for a Championship at Prelude to Violence?

#6 – (3) – Greg Excellent –  Despite the victory, Excellent still must not be happy with the way Proving Grounds turned out.  First Hyde forces him to compete against fellow disgruntled employee, Matt Tremont.  But then he is blasted with a steel chair for his efforts!

#7 – (8) – Adam Cole – Hyde is simply the thorn in Cole’s side that he can’t rid himself of.  If it weren’t for Hyde, Cole could have showcased why he considers himself the next great wrestler at Cinco De Mayo.  Instead, Cole was laid out with Hyde weapon of choice, a steel chair.

#8 – (9) – Alex Colon – The leader of the newly formed 4Loko was victorious once again at Proving Grounds.  What does this angry Puerto Rican competitor have planned for the Combat Zone?

#9 – (10) – Matt Tremont – Despite the loss, Tremont didn’t stay down for long after Hyde laid the Bulldozer out with a steel chair.  Tremont has one goal in mind…  To beat DJ Hyde!  To do that he must accomplish his dream and win Tournament of Death XI!  But the road to TOD make a stop in Ohio where Tremont will compete.

#10 – (-) – Dustin Rayz – Rayz is back and he is on a wrecking spree!  His first victim…  Kit Osbourne.  Osbourne found out what a surgically repaired leg can do to a skull first hand!

Honorable Mention – (-) – Jake Crist – Jake Crist is simply not having the best luck.  Despite not being pinned in his last two matches, Crist has been laid out with “foreign objects.”  Crist clearly should be CZW Wired TV Champion right now if it weren’t for his brother’s underhand tactics.
Dropped Off The List:
(5) – Samuray Del Sol – Unfortunately for Del Sol, he fell off the list this week after not competing in the last two CZW events.  However, we here at expect Del Sol to return to the Combat Zone shortly and possibly capture some gold!
Watch Out For:
4Loko – Many weren’t really sure what to think when Alex Colon and Chrissy Rivera defected from BLK OUT to join with Azrieal and Bandido Jr..  One thing is for sure, 4Loko is out to make waves in the Combat Zone.  This has the makings to be the one of the most talked about factions in CZW history!

DJ Hyde – Sure, he hasn’t competed since failing to capture the World Championship at Aerial Assault.  However, the owner of the Combat Zone must be on watch as he is sure to do ANYTHING to prevent Matt Tremont from stepping into the ring with him should he win Tournament of Death XI.
Nation of Intoxication – After Proving Grounds, the party went long into the night for the Nation of Intoxication.  We here at aren’t even sure if the party has even ended!  These three men are drunk on alcohol now…  But just image the “fun” they will have on June 23rd when they are allowed to drink DURING their match?!  As Lucky, Devon Moore, and Danny Havoc compete in the first round of Tournament of Death XI in a Drunken Scaffold Match!

Drew Gulak – Sure Gulak failed to defeat Danny Havoc and rid the Combat Zone of the Ultraviolence.  If there is one thing for certain, Gulak will not go quietly into the night.  Who knows what Gulak is now capable of after subjecting himself to a Barbed Wire Match?  Gulak does seek out some measure of revenge as he challenges one of the men who took out his campaign at Proving Grounds, Drake Younger.

The Deathmatch Wrestlers – Now that Best of the Best season is over, the Combat Zone focuses its attention on the Ultraviolence once again.  We now begin the countdown to June 23rd’s Tournament of Death XI from Townsend, Delaware.  We have already seen the Deathmatch Wrestlers unite to help the Nation of Intoxication banish the Campaign for a Better Combat Zone from ringside during Havoc’s No Rope Barbed Wire Match against Drew Gulak.  But these deathmatch brothers will soon be enemies in just one month’s time.
