The Top 10 of CZW - July, 2011
Tuesday, July 12, 2011 @ 09:12pm EDT

This is a new feature for CZWrestling.com.  Each month, the staff at CZWrestling.com will rank the wrestlers of CZW based on their win-loss record, their place on the card, the crowd reaction they receive, any titles won or lost, and other intangible qualities that made that wrestler stick out from the pack.  Surely this list will be controversial, but please remember that this is all done in good fun.  This list is not the official standings controlled by CZW Management.  Without further a due, this is the Top 10 of CZW for July, 2011.

CHAMPION – Devon Moore – For guy who no one thought would be champion for more than one day, he has proven himself each and every time in the ring.  He dedicated this title reign to the late Trent Acid, and Acid would be more than pleased to see Moore defeat the likes of “The Ego” Robert Anthony and “The Cambodian Axe Murderer” Joker!

#1 – Adam Cole – Like him or not, there is no doubt that Adam Cole is the premiere athlete in the Combat Zone.  Cole began his reign on May 8, 2010 and has looked back.  Recently adding the Best of the Best X trophy to his laundry list of accomplishments, the man just cannot be beat.  However, some are beginning to question his abilities as CZW Owner, DJ Hyde, is keeping Cole’s biggest challenge, Sami Callihan, at bay.

#2 – Sami Callihan – Despite “losing the big one” back at Best of the Best X, Callihan has been unstoppable!  Many feel that Callihan was cheated out of the Best of the Best trophy, you be the judge.  Since then, it has been obvious that DJ Hyde hates Callihan and wants him no where near “The Money” Adam Cole…  Yet Callihan has been running through every road block put in front of him including: Jake Crist, Necro Butcher, and MASADA!

#3 – MASADA – The demise of Cult Fiction in the Combat Zone has been a blessing in disguise for the newly crowned Ultraviolent Underground Champion.  The Ultraviolent Beast battled Sami Callihan with a fractured leg and almost WON!  Then with that same fractured leg went on to win Tournament of Death X by defeating Dysfunction, Matt Tremont, and Big Japan Wrestling’s Masashi Takeda!

#4 – Jake Crist – Talk about the shocker of the night at New Heights…  Crist was awarded the shot at the Wired TV Title by the then champion, AR Fox, noting that he like Fox was merely a second thought in the Combat Zone.  Crist made the most of the opportunity  and took home his first win and his first CZW Championship, all with his brother, Dave Crist, of Irish Airbourne watching on!

#5 – Drake Younger – “The Golden Boy” of CZW may be allowing his new contractual powers of Creative Control get in the way of becoming the top dog of CZW once again.  Once Younger signed the dotted line, his attitude changed and he turned his back on all his friends…  Most importantly Scotty Vortekz.  But it is because of Vortekz that Younger is this low on the list as he failed to qualify for Tournament of Death X thanks to his former best friend.

#6 – Scotty Vortekz – Many have doubted his ability to compete with the top stars of CZW.  Yet he has been in more show stealing moments in the last 7 to 8 months than anyone!  He entered the devastating Cage of Death, stole the show in the most brutal dog collar match ever seen, defeated Younger in an Ultraviolent TLC Match to qualify for Tournament of Death X.  He enters the Two Ring Psycho Circus Tangled Web Match on August 13th poised to steal the show yet again in that main event match.

#7 – Danny Havoc – Starting off 2011, Havoc was on the high of a lifetime defeating his idol, Jun Kasai, for the Ultraviolent Underground Championship at Best of the Best X.  After numerous bloody battles, Havoc was seemingly unstoppable.  However, it was Drew Gulak’s influence at Tournament of Death X that started his fall from grace.  Havoc didn’t win his first round match thanks to Gulak’s assistant, Mr. Tofiga.  The dominoes just continued to fall when he lost the UVU Championship at New Heights to MASADA.

#8 – AR Fox – Winning or losing, you can deny that Fox is the most talked about wrestler in the match.  Quite possibly the most athletically gifted wrestler to ever step foot into the Combat Zone.  After being deny the Junior Heavyweight Championship thanks to a lariat from DJ Hyde, Fox went on to end the 14 month reign of Drew Gulak as Wired TV Champion.  “The People’s Choice” would have been ranked higher if it weren’t for the shocking loss to Jake Crist.  Fox now heads to Japan to represent CZW in the “Land of the Rising Sun” and surely will come back ready to reclaim the CZW Wired TV Championship!

#9 – The BLK Jeez / Joker – Ironically these men are the Tag Team Champions; however that’s not why they are listed together.  Now the staff had no problem placing “The Cambodian Axe Murderer” on the list, as he pinned the World Champion at Tournament of Death X and was narrowly defeated by Moore at New Heights.  What the staff had a problem with is putting the BLK Jeez on the list, especially after his actions at New Heights.  However, he is a Tag Team Champion and hasn’t lost more than one or two matches in months earning the right to be placed on this list.  Much like his partner, BLK Jeez has now earned himself the right to challenge Devon Moore at A Tangled Web 4.

#10 – Ryan McBride – We would be remiss if we did not mention Ryan McBride.  McBride has been on a bit of a winning streak since failing to qualify for Best of the Best X, and at Prelude to Violence he earned himself the right to challenge for the Wired TV Championship at a future CZW event.  This could be his breakout year in the Combat Zone.
