The Top 10 of CZW - February, 2012
Monday, February 20, 2012 @ 03:15pm EST

Each month, the staff at has been ranking the wrestlers of CZW based on their win-loss record, their place on the card, the crowd reaction they receive, any titles won or lost, and other intangible qualities that made that wrestler stick out from the pack.  Since its inception, this list has proved to be controversial; surely it will be very much the same this month.  This month seemed to be chaotic with the shocking World Championship win for Scotty Vortekz.  Please remember, this list is not the official standings controlled by CZW Management.  Without further a due, this is the Top 10 of CZW for February, 2011.

CHAMPION – Scotty Vortekz – After more than a decade in the sport of professional wrestling, Vortekz finally accomplished his dream of becoming World Heavyweight Champion.  After his victory at Super Saturday, Vortekz sent the whole Combat Zone into a frenzy!  He went to prove the “haters” wrong when he successfully defended the championship 7 days later at the 13th Anniversary event against Drew Gulak.  But the true test still lies ahead when he defends the Championship in a Three Way Dance against his friend, Devon Moore, and his enemy, Robert Anthony, on March 10th!

#1 – (C & 5) – Devon Moore & “The Ego” Robert Anthony – It is only right that these two men are now tied at the top of the list…  After spending the last 10 months as CZW World Champion, he shockingly lost the championship to his friend, Scotty Vortekz.  One week later, the shocks continued when Moore and Anthony simultaneously pinned each other at the 13th Anniversary.  CZW Officials then declared both men as #1 Contender for the World Championship.  Many believe Moore shouldn’t have had to been in that #1 Contender Match.  Those same people also believe that the Ego has much more to prove since returning only a few months ago.  No matter what you believe, these men sit atop our list as they prepare for their World Championship match against Vortekz at Aerial Assault on March 10th!

#2 – (2) – Sami Callihan – If you though the World Championship scene was full of controversy, you haven’t been following the last few weeks in the career of the Callihan Death Machine!  After declaring “Extreme” dead in the closing moments of the legendary Asylum Arena, Callihan went on to back up his words by defeating the soul of “Extreme”, Tommy Dreamer!  After defeating Dreamer at Super Saturday, Callihan then successfully defeated DJ Hyde to finally end their war (at least of the time being).  Now Callihan is set to face his biggest challenge ever when he defends the CZW Junior Heavyweight Championship against the “Ultraviolent Golden Boy” Drake Younger!  But before that Callihan is competing in LuchaPOP in Mexico as part of CZW’s new working agreement in Mexico.

#3 – (4) – MASADA – Some call him the uncrown CZW World Champion…  Why?  Because he has yet to be pinned in the Combat Zone since Tournament of Death X back in June, 2011!  He still reigns as the CZW Ultraviolent Underground Champion.  And he is still knocking on the door of the CZW World Championship.  With Tournament of Death 11 looming in just a few short months, MASADA is surely going to take things “up a notch” as the Combat Zone heads into spring.  The question is, after being left out of the controversial #1 Contender decision last weekend…  Who will he take his frustrations out on?

#4 – (3) – DJ Hyde – 2012 hasn’t been good to the owner of the Combat Zone.  First, he loses control of his company in January to Greg Excellent.  Second, he fails to capture the CZW World Championship.  Third, he loses to his match against Sami Callihan.  Finally, he looks to being losing the support of his protégé, Adam Cole.  Now, he drops down to number four on this top ten list…  Can it get any worse?

#5 – (1) – Drew Gulak – Three seconds…  That is all it took to finally shut up the preacher of change.  Well…  Three seconds and the Nation of Intoxication.  The entire Combat Zone was on edge at the 13th Anniversary at the possibility of Drew Gulak as CZW World Heavyweight Champion.  However the University City Grappler did not major in Political Science, as his war with Danny Havoc is what ended up being his undoing.  He was so infuriated by the loss that he may have made a challenge to Danny Havoc for Aerial Assault on the Aftershow Xclusive.  Stay tuned to for official word on that potential match.

#6 – (6) – Greg Excellent – Excellent stays at number six this month after defeating the man who has been held in the “Way Back” of the Asylum Arena for months, Niles Young.  But now Excellent must ready as his archrival, Mia Yim, has laid down the challenge for a TLC match at Aerial Assault!
#7 – (-) – Drake Younger – Younger returns to the list this month after wrestling the match of his life with Adam Cole.  He has now realized that he must work his way back to the top…  To do that he must cut weight and ready himself for Sami Callihan, the man he calls the best in the Combat Zone today.

#8 – (10) – BLK Jeez – Jeez moves up the list this month after returning from his trek of Big Japan Wrestling.  He defeated Homicide in a Voorhees Street Fight at the 13th Anniversary Event.  What is there next for the self-proclaimed “International Superstar?”

#9 – (8) – Adam Cole – If you thought DJ Hyde had it rough…  Adam Cole has it even worse!  Cole hasn’t won a match in the Combat Zone since he lost the CZW Junior Heavyweight Championship to Sami Callihan at Night of Infamy.  In a performance that he should not be ashamed of, he lost to Drake Younger.  Frustrations clearly running high in the Panama City Playboy…  He got into a verbal altercation with his mentor, DJ Hyde…  The one man he doesn’t want to make an enemy of!

#10 – (9) – AR Fox –  There is a reason why he is the People’s Choice…  Because he will give every match 110%, even if his opponent was named at the last minute.  Which was the case at Super Saturday and at the 13th Anniversary event when Uhaa Nation failed to arrive for the scheduled match.  Fox has laid down the gauntlet for himself and has joined the field of 12 for this year’s Best of the Best on April 14th.  Can Fox accomplish what he couldn’t last year?  Find out on April 14th!

Honorable Mention – (-) – Dave Crist – His middle name must be jealous…  But no matter what you call him, he clearly has brought embarrassment to the Crist family.  Ever since coming to the Combat Zone, Dave Crist has been jealous of all his brother’s successes.
Dropped Off The List:
(10) – Eddie Kingston – Kingston took off the month of February from competition in the Combat Zone.  After his last match, we imagine that he will break back into the top ten upon his return.
Watch Out For:

Matt Tremont – Tremont made a HUGE statement at the 13th Anniversary.  He wants to take his spot among the Ultraviolent Gladiators this year at Tournament of Death 11.  If he can bring the fire to the ring that he had in that monologue, no one will be able to stop the Bulldozer!

Mia Yim – Can third time be a charm for the Blasian Sensation?  She has already taken Greg Excellent to the limit twice, but in a TLC match the rules go out the window!

Danny Havoc – The Deathmatch Drunkard is back on his game!  He’s now looking to make sure Drew Gulak doesn’t bring the “change” he has been claiming to bring for months now!
