The Top 10 of CZW - April, 2012
Sunday, April 22, 2012 @ 03:32pm EDT

Each month, the staff at CZWrestling.com has been ranking the wrestlers of CZW based on their win-loss record, their place on the card, the crowd reaction they receive, any titles won or lost, and other intangible qualities that made that wrestler stick out from the pack.  Since its inception, this list has proved to be controversial; surely it will be very much the same this month.  Please remember, this list is not the official standings controlled by CZW Management.  Without further a due, this is the Top 10 of CZW for April, 2012.

CHAMPION – MASADA – The Ultraviolent Beast took a much needed and much deserved month off from action in CZW.  However, MASADA made sure to let the whole world know that he is ready and willing to fight ANYONE who dares challenge for the CZW World Championship!  Find out who will challenge the World Champion at Cinco De Mayo later on this month right here on CZWrestling.com!

#1 – (2) – Sami Callihan – You can call him angry, bitter, violent, vicious, disrespectful, or even inhuman…  But you can also call him BEST of the BEST!  Third time was a charm for the Junior Heavyweight Champion as he battled FIVE men to become Best of the Best 11.  Unfortunately for Callihan the success seemed to go to his head as he berated not only DJ Hyde…  But the 12 other competitors in the tournament and the people who supported him the most, the fans!  Will this lack of humility come back to destroy Callihan?  We will all have to wait and see now.

#2 – (3) – Drake Younger – If anyone deserves to be irate with their elimination it’s Drake Younger.  Younger, wasn’t pinned and didn’t submit.  Once again he was the victim of a rulebook technicality.  What gets under Younger’s skin even more is the lack of humility shown by the tournament’s eventual winner, Sami Callihan.  Younger gets a chance to even the score when CZW returns to his backyard of Bloomington, Indiana.  The two will compete in a 2 Out of 3 Falls Match atCinco De Mayo!

#3 – (6) – Greg Excellent – Excellent can’t be upset at his showing in Best of the Best 11.  Sure he didn’t make it out of the first round…  But he only found out he would be competing in Best of the Best 11 a week prior to the tournament itself, this after going through a brutal Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match with Mia Yim just four weeks earlier.  Excellent is now done playing games and wants to get some championship gold once again as he challenges for the Wired Championship at Cinco De Mayo on May 5th in Bloomington, Indiana.

#4 – (7) – AR Fox – For two years running, Fox has been named the “People’s Choice” in the Best of the Best tournament.  For Fox, that simply isn’t good enough as he came within seconds of becoming Best of the Best 11.  However, this year’s “People’s Choice” award grants him a chance to challenge for ANY championship in the Combat Zone at ANY time over the course of one calendar year.  When and where will this superhuman strike?  Who knows?

#5 – (9) – Samuray Del Sol – Samuray Del Sol continues to move up the ranks here in the Combat Zone with his lucha style that is unlike anything ever seen.  With precision, Del Sol made his way to the Semi-Finals of Best of the Best 11…  And with precision, it is only a matter of time before this aerial artist can be called a champion.

#6 – (10) – Danny Havoc – After months of being embarrassed by the Gulak Campaign for a Better Combat Zone, Havoc finally has the upper hand!  First, he got Gulak’s intern, Alexander James, addicted to drugs…  Then, he bloodied the political boss with a barbed wire bat at Best of the Best 11!  And next month at Proving Grounds, Havoc has the chance to end the Campaign once and for all in a No Rope Barbed Wire Match!

#7 – (-) – Dave Crist – Dave Crist can finally sleep easy knowing that he embarrassed his brother, Jake, by underhandedly taking the CZW Wired Championship at Best of the Best 11.  Now the question is, can Dave Crist keep the championship?  His first challenger has already stepped up in the former of Greg Excellent.

#8 – (-) – Adam Cole – Cole returns to the Top Ten List this month having defeated the national television star, Tony Nese.  Cole is clearly reinvigorated and ready to get back on the hunt for CZW championship gold.  But first me must defeat the former CZW Wired Champion, Jake Crist, at Cinco De Mayo from Indiana.

#9 – (-) – Alex Colon – Colon has finally broken from the BLK OUT pack.  He came within one match of taking home BLK OUT’s fourth Best of the Best trophy.  Colon showed the entire world that he is a major player in the Combat Zone and 2012 is HIS year!

#10 – (-) – Matt Tremont – The Bulldozer is as man on a mission!  Despite the last minute substitution, Tremont walked out of Best of the Best 11 a winner.  Tremont now has even more incentive to win Tournament of Death 11, should he win he gets a match with DJ Hyde!  After months of being disrespected by “the Boss,” Tremont doesn’t simply want this match…  In his mind, he NEEDS it!

Honorable Mention – (-) – Willie Mack & ACH – Despite failing to break out of the first round of the Best of the Best 11 tournament, Willie Mack and ACH both earned the respect of the harsh CZW audience.  Both men even earned the respect of the hard to please boss, DJ Hyde.  Could we see more of these two men in the Combat Zone in 2012?  Only time will tell.

Dropped Off The List:
(1) – Scotty Vortekz – No one has seen or heard from the former World Champion after failing to regain the championship at Aerial Assault.  However, many expect Vortekz to make his return to the Combat Zone when CZW returns to Indiana for Cinco De Mayo on May 5th at the Bloomington National Guard Armory in Bloomington, Indiana.

(4) – Devon Moore – Like his friend Scotty Vortekz, no one has really heard from the former World Champion after failing to regain the championship at Aerial Assault.  If Danny Havoc’s recent interview on CZW’s YouTube Channel is any indication, Devon Moore has hit rock bottom.

(5) – DJ Hyde – Hyde surely fooled the entire Combat Zone at Best of the Best 11 when he refused to step into the ring with Matt Tremont.  Hyde not only sacrificed a match with the Bulldozer, but his spot on the Top Ten List.

(HM) – Jake Crist – Unfortunately for Crist, Best of the Best 11 did not turn out the way he expected as he lost the CZW Wired Championship to his own flesh and blood, Dave Crist.  After nearly a year of fighting, all it took as two swift kicks to the lower regions to lose the Wired Championship and a spot on the Top Ten List.

Watch Out For:
Drew Gulak – The term wrestlers and wrestling personalities like to throw around is “Never Say Never.”  That term hasn’t been truer.  It was at Best of the Best 11 where Drew Gulak threw his very own rule book away and challenged Danny Havoc to a No Rope Barbed Wire Match at Proving Grounds on May 12th from the Parkwood Youth Organization.  If Gulak is willing to get ultraviolent, then the entire Combat Zone surely better be on high alert for the Gulak Campaign!

The Deathmatch Wrestlers – Now that Best of the Best season is over, the Combat Zone focuses its attention on the Ultraviolence once again.  We now begin the countdown to June 23rd’s Tournament of Death 11 from Townsend, Delaware.  As the Combat Zone gets closer to that date, you can expect the Deathmatch Wrestlers will start swarming the hive.  Already announced is Big Japan Wrestling’s Abdullah Kobayashi.  If CZW’s cult favorite is returning, just imagine who else will decide to get Ultraviolent along with Kobayashi, Tremont, and Mondo?
