It was made clear earlier today via the CZW Social Media Network that Joe Gacy and Ryan Slater will indeed step into the ring and do battle at Tournament of Death XI. This match will not be an ordinary match. In keeping with the theme of the legendary afternoon, Gacy and Slater will face off in a Fans Bring the Weapons Match!
The last time these two men were in the ring together they were still friends. However looking at the events leading up to Proving Grounds on iPPV, it was quite clear that the end was near for the Runaways. Despite being such a dominate team in the Combat Zone for two years, they failed to capture the top prize in the Tag Team Division. Just hours before the tandem stepped into the ring against Azrieal & Bandido Jr. for what would be their last attempt at the gold, Gacy posted this very cryptic message on his Twitter (@JoeGacy), “Tonight I hit a cross road, regardless of the events I will be forced one way or another. One thing is for sure. This path will change #CZW.” It was apparent that Gacy was ready to move on to the next level of his career with or without Ryan Slater by his side.
After the match, Gacy made it quite clear that he wants to be sure that this relationship is completely severed. Visit the CZW YouTube Channel now to hear Gacy’s exact comments. Slater, however, has remained silent on this whole issue. Sometimes, the silent ones can be the most erratic and hard to handle.
