"I'm sick of funerals. I'm sick of Hardcore Homecomings. The Arena
has finally ended. The era of extreme is done. Now hit the lights."
Those
were the final words spoken on a microphone in the Asylum Arena this
past weekend as the current CZW World Jr. Heavyweight Champion, SAMI CALLIHAN, stood over a beaten and bloodied Sabu.
Not
15 minutes prior, worlds collided when CZW Owner DJ Hyde, Matt Tremont,
Alexander James, Drew Gulak, Kit Osbourne, & CZW Academy students
hit the ring during the Extreme Farewell to remind everyone that CZW ran
more shows in the Arena than ECW. If anyone was going to close out the
show, it would be the Combat Zone. The CZW contingent brawled to the
back with Balls Mahoney, New Jack, Pitbull #1, & ECW Founder Tod
Gordon as Justin Credible took on Sabu. The boss' statement would ring
true after Callihan stormed the ring post match to lay out the extreme
legend. The lights went dark & all that remained in the ring were
broken chairs, broken tables, & a broken kendo stick.
On
Sunday, Sami posted a video on his social media saying that he wasn't
sorry for what he did & reiterated that extreme was dead. One has to
wonder what Sami's opponent on February 4th, "THE INNOVATOR OF VIOLENCE" TOMMY DREAMER,
has to feel about such a bold statement. The 2 time ECW World
Heavyweight Champion is no stranger to the extreme style of wrestling or
to ultraviolence, having competed here in the Combat Zone briefly in
2001. A decade can change a person though. There are those that say that
Dreamer has gotten soft in that span of time. There are those that say
the man who was the heart & soul of ECW is no longer extreme. There
are those, like Sami Callihan, who say that after this past
weekend...extreme is truly dead. If Dreamer's career has taught us
anything though, it's that you can never count him out.
On Saturday, February 4th in Indianapolis, generations will collide as
the personification of extreme battles a man who many fans are labeling
as the Combat Zone's franchise player. Tickets are on sale now in the
CZW Pro Shop; you can order them by Clicking Here.
Remember, this event is one day before the Super Bowl; only 5 minutes
from Lucas Oil Stadium. Be there for what is easily one of the most
anticipated matches in all of professional wrestling this
year...CALLIHAN vs. DREAMER!
