Since its inception in 1997, the ECWA Super 8 has become one of the most
prestigious tournaments in all of professional wrestling. Boasting
winners like Christopher Daniels, Low Ki, Paul London, Petey Williams, Davey Richards, and Jerry Lynn,
men have traveled from all over in hopes of taking home the trophy.
This year marks the 15th year the tournament will be running and three
of the Combat Zone's brightest stars are looking to emerge victorious.
Representing the Combat Zone in the tournament are the following:
"THE NEW HORROR" SAMI CALLIHAN - Sami is no stranger to winning
tournaments. Quite possibly the hardest hitting individual in CZW, Sami
has taken home the 2010 FIP Jeff Peterson Memorial Cup & this
year's wXw 16 Carat Gold Tournament trophy as well as making it to the
finals of the 2009 & 2011 Best of the Best Tournaments. After
failing to win "Best of the Best X", Callihan is a man on a mission and has vowed to destroy all who stand in his way.
CZW World Junior Heavyweight Champion and 2011 Best of the Best Winner ADAM COLE
- Cole is coming off of a huge weekend. After winning this year's Best
of the Best (albeit through questionable methods) and successfully
defending the CZW World Junior Heavyweight Championship, Cole is looking
to add ECWA Super 8 winner to his list of accolades. To do it, he must
outlast seven other men with one potentially being the man he defeated
to win Best of the Best; Sami Callihan. Heads will roll in New Jersey
if Cole finds himself colliding with Callihan, who is still stewing over
his defeat in Best of the Best.
RICH SWANN - Of the three
Combat Zone stars in the Super 8, Swann is undoubtedly the underdog.
Where Callihan & Cole have won tournaments and championships, Swann
has yet to achieve this success. It is this hunger to win and his
status as the underdog that makes Swann a dangerous man in this
tournament. He is out to make a name for himself and capturing the
Super 8 trophy would allow him to do just that.
It all goes down
on Saturday afternoon, April 30th at the Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees,
NJ with doors opening at 3PM. Ticket information as well as a list of
talent competing in the tournament can be found at this LINK. CZW Owner & ECWA Commissioner DJ HYDE
is encouraging the CZW faithful to come support the CZW stars in this
year's tournament. If you can't be there in person, you can watch the
event live as it's being streamed through the Internet at this LINK. Don't wait; order your tickets or your stream today!
