The Top 10 of CZW – January, 2013
Monday, January 21, 2013 @ 08:44pm EST

Each month, the staff at has been ranking the wrestlers of CZW based on their win-loss record, their place on the card, the crowd reaction they receive, any titles won or lost, and other intangible qualities that made that wrestler stick out from the pack.  Since its inception, this list has proved to be controversial; surely it will be very much the same this month.  Please remember, this list is not the official standings controlled by CZW Management.  Without further a due, this is the Top 10 of CZW for January, 2013!

CHAMPION – MASADA – In his 10th month as Champion, MASADA has remained successful.  After returning home from a successful tour of Big Japan Wrestling, the Ultraviolent Beast defeated Joe Gacy…  But not without a bit of controversy.  It seems as though Christina Von Eerie has some sort of fatal attraction towards the CZW World Champion.  When the International Deathmatch Superstar returns from a tour of Mexico, he will face off against his crazed stalker in a Deathmatch!

#1 – (1) – AR Fox – The Whole Foxxin’ Show continues to mesmerize the CZW audience with his aerial artistry.  This month, Fox defeated the formidable Lucky 13 in a spectacular match.  Who will step up to the plate next to challenge this high flying sensation?

#2 – (2) – Adam Cole – Despite not competing at Ascension, Adam Cole remains high on this list thanks in part to his efforts abroad.  Cole’s rivalry steps up a notch as he will team with Jessicka Havok to face Sami Callihan and the returning LuFisto.  It was mentioned at Reflections and Refractions if Cole would ever compete in an Ultraviolent match again, well with the three other people in this match…  He may have just answered that question!

#3 – (3) – Sami Callihan – Clearly Cage of Death 14 didn’t solve the issues between Callihan and Cole.  It is clear that their career paths are nearly identical.  Like Cole, Callihan remains high on the list because of his efforts abroad.  Callihan now has his chance to avenge his loss at Cage of Death 14 when he teams with the First Lady of Ultraviolence to take on the team of Adam Cole and Jessicka Havok.

#4 – (5) – Matt Tremont – When Tommy Dreamer specifically praises you; you know you’ve truly made an impact.  Tremont achieved his dream and main evented the biggest event in the history of the Combat Zone.  Then at Ascension, the Bulldozer defeated both Tommy Dreamer and Rory Mondo in an Ultraviolent Rules Match.  Is there any slowing down of the Bulldozer?

#5 – (9) – Danny Havoc – What a month it has been for the Deathmatch Drunkard.  First he won the Tag Team Championships at Cage of Death 14, then he returns to Japan.  Before Havoc had a chance to return to the US, BJW locked Havoc in for a future tour of Japan.  Then, Havoc returns to the Combat Zone and successfully defends the championships with Devon Moore against old rivals, the Campaign for a Better Combat Zone.  One way life gets better for Havoc is if he becomes a share holder for a major alcohol distribution company.

#6 – (7) – Jake Crist – OI4K turned their fortune around after Cage of Death 14.  After letting their emotions get the best of them at the biggest event in CZW history, the Crist Brothers got back to their winning ways at Ascension.  The question now is, was that enough to put them back into the Tag Team Championship picture?

#7 – (8) – Dave Crist – See Jake Crist

#8 – (9) – Lucky 13 – Only a few short years ago, Lucky was seen as nothing more than a dog.  He was seen as a sacrificial lamb.  He was a nobody.  Fast forward to the present, Lucky 13 is the reason why the Nation of Intoxication are on their second Tag Team Title reign.  At Ascension, Lucky took AR Fox to the limit in his Wired Championship opportunity.  Expect big things from Lucky in 2013.

#9 – (-) – Drake Younger – Drake Younger bounced back from his loss at Cage of Death 14 by successfully competing yet another tour of Japan representing the Black and Yellow.  His trip was so successful that, like Danny Havoc, he was signed to return back to BJW before returning to the US.  Drake Younger has shown to be the perennial representative of the Combat Zone.  Its only a matter of time before Younger returns to the Combat Zone to make his name once again.

#10 – (10) – DJ Hyde – Ironically, DJ Hyde hasn’t showed his face in his own company after losing to Matt Tremont at Cage of Death 14.  However, Hyde made his presence felt in the Land of the Rising Sun beginning in 2013.  In fact, it was this most recent tour that Hyde has gone on record saying inspired him.  It was because of this tour the phrase “Wrestling Fears CZW” was popularized.  What exactly does the Lariat have planned for CZW in 2013?  Your guess is as good as ours.

Honorable Mention – (-) Shane Strickland – After getting the respect he deserved at Cage of Death 14, Strickland kept the ball rolling by defeating 4Loco’s Alex Colon.  Strickland is definitely making a statement at the right time as CZW enters into Best of the Best season.
Dropped Off The List:
(4) – Greg Excellent – Excellent falls off the list simply because he did not compete this month.  However, that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been making waves.  In what started as a playful tweet has turned into a battle of words and well…  Food… Between 4Loco’s Chrissy Rivera and him.  At 14 we will bare witness to an Ultraviolent Food Fight between the two to end the war of words.  But unlike his past intergender bouts, Excellent has to keep his eyes out for Azrieal, Bandido Jr., and Alex Colon.
(6) – Joe Gacy – Unfortunately for the Chainsaw, it seems has he was only being used by Christina Von Eerie to get to MASADA.  Sure, he lost to the Ultraviolent Beast…  But it wasn’t because of a mistake on his own part.  2013 has only just begun for the Walking Horror Movie.

Watch Out For:
4Loco – Azrieal and Bandido Jr. have gotten back to their winning ways…  Will they get their traditional title rematch in the near future?  If they do, they have a good chance of becoming champions again after their last performance.

Pepper Parks – When he’s not constantly making out with his fiancée Cherry Bomb or “helping” the Combat Zone…  He’s been a proven commodity in the ring.  It shouldn’t take long for this man to see some accolades come his way in 2013.

Jun Kasai – As of press time, we are 73 days from the biggest wrestling weekend of the year.  And what a way to kick off the festivities at WrestleCon by bringing back the Crazy Monkey?  This is something you, the fans, will love…  But the roster may not exactly be too happy of.  Jun Kasai has dominated the Combat Zone in the past.  In fact, in recent years he captured the former Ultraviolent Underground Championship.  So what will happen when this man returns to his US home during the biggest wrestling weekend of the year?
