Tale of the Tape: LuFisto
Saturday, January 19, 2013 @ 12:29pm EST

It was announced at Ascension last weekend that the First Lady of Ultraviolence, LuFisto, will be making her long awaited return to the Combat Zone.  At CZW 14 it will be LuFisto teaming up with OI4K’s Sami Callihan to take on the team of Adam Cole and WSU World Champion Jessicka Havok.  Long time fans should know exactly who LuFisto is and how well she fits in to the Combat Zone.  But just in case you forgot, has done some research on the former CZW New Horror (AKA Ironman) Champion.

LuFisto began training when she was 17 years old in Sorel, Quebec, Canada, her hometown. On June 23, 1997, she made her wrestling debut in St-Leonard-d'Aston, Quebec, under the ring name Lucifer. From there she would travel around to various promotions, while finally discovering her love for dishing out pain.

From the beginning she began to compete in the ultraviolent style of wrestling.  In fact, in 2002, LuFisto was scheduled to appear at an event in Ontario. The Ontario Athletics Commission, citing a regulation that prevented women and men from wrestling each other, threatened to shut down the show. This essentially banned LuFisto from wrestling in Ontario. She lodged a complaint with the Ontario Human Rights Commission. On February 26, 2006, the OHRC informed her that they had convinced the OAC to drop the regulation. The OAC subsequently dropped the vast majority of the regulations affecting professional wrestling in Ontario, a move which removed a great deal of the bureaucracy stifling independent wrestling in the province.

After gaining respect and recognition throughout Canada, it was time for her to come to the hardcore wrestling capital of the world, Philadelphia.  On August 12, 2006 in Philadelphia, LuFisto became the first ever female CZW New Horror (AKA Ironman) Champion, pinning Kevin Steen to win the title. Throughout the mid-2000s she would go on to defeat the likes of the Juggulator, Skullion, and even the legendary Necro Butcher. On December 9, 2006, she became the first female ever to wrestle inside of the Cage of Death match when she added herself in at the last minute.  This match featured CZW greats such as John Zandig, Nick Gage, and Lobo.

Her time in CZW came to an unfortunate end when she suffered a career threatening injury.  On January 8, 2007, she announced on her web site a possible retirement due to a back problem and that she would be forfeiting the her championship.  It was an unfortunate end to the history making run for the first lady of ultraviolence.

After taking some time away from the ring, LuFisto was able to rest and rehab her injury allowing her to once again compete starting in 2008.  She would wrestle for various women’s promotions across the globe, even returning to the Combat Zone to compete in Best of the Best 8 in 2008.  She continued to travel the world up until 2012 where she made her WSU debut in shocking fashion rising from a casket in a casket match between Jessicka Havok and Mercedes Martinez.  It was clear she was there to attack Martinez, the fall out from the attack will take place at An Ultraviolent Affair prior to 14.  Jessicka Havok was none to pleased with the attack either, as Havok wanted to put down Martinez all alone.  After Lufisto made her intentions clear that she would be going for Havok’s WSU title (Seen here in this video), it was only natural that the tag match pitting Callihan and Lufisto vs. Cole and Havok be made.

In recent years, Lufisto has seemingly taken on characteristics of her tag team partner on February 9th.  For a time in CZW History, some may have even considered her the hardest hitting athlete in the Combat Zone much like Callihan is touted as now.  The way she talks and carries herself in recent years is very much like the Callihan Deathmachine.  She will fit in just fine with OI4K’s anarchist attitude.’s Tale of the Tape:
